Why I made Atout!
My name is Florence. I grew up in Vonnas, a village in eastern France, and in my family, Belote was a way of life.

A childhood around the cards
My grandmother and my father taught me Belote and Coinche. My parents ran a bar, and the bar held card tournaments. All through my childhood I played in the village tournaments: the crowded tables, the slap of cards on the mat, the proud "Belote… rebelote!", the arguments over the last trick and the laughter right after. They are some of my happiest memories.
Far from home
Today I live far from France. What I miss isn't only the bread or the cheese: it's a good game of cards. I looked for a place to play online and couldn't find one I liked: too many ads, rules that weren't quite right, deals you had to wonder about, and never the soul of a real table.
So I built it
I'm a developer. One evening I told myself: if it doesn't exist, I'll make it. That's how Atout! was born. Artificial intelligence let me build on my own what would have taken a whole team, but the rules, the memories and the heart all come from Vonnas.
A table like the ones I grew up with
I wanted Atout! to feel like the tables at the bar: real rules, played the French way, your friends around you, and robots who each have their own character, like the regulars. No ads, and deals that are truly fair, which anyone can check. If a game here reminds you of Sunday afternoons with your family, then I've done what I set out to do.
A cosy community
My dream is for Atout! to become a cosy community of Belote and Coinche lovers, like the regulars at my parents' bar. Your ideas matter: tell me which features you'd like to see, what you enjoy and what you miss. Write to me at contact@atoutsuite.com; I read every message with pleasure.
If you'd like to help
I'm not trying to get rich with Atout!, and the game will stay free. But a server costs money, and there's so much more I want to add. If you enjoy playing here, a Premium subscription ($3.99 a month) helps me keep the site running and make it better. Every subscription truly counts, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The songs of Atout!
I also wrote songs for the game. You hear them in the app when the music is on (Settings › Music).
L'Atout des amis
The lyrics
Tant qu'on est ensemble, on est riches encore.Encore une partie ?
Allez… juste une dernière.
ATOUT!Ah-Too! Here's to Me and You
The lyrics
There's a little table waiting,
And an empty chair or two,
There's a story worth retelling,
And a friend who's passing through.
Let the world keep on its turning,
Let the hours slip away,
We've got nowhere else to hurry,
We've got one more hand to play. There's a lady by the window,
With a twinkle in her eye,
And a gentleman who's certain
That his luck is running high.
Someone laughs about an old flame,
Someone says, "Now, don't you start!"
Funny how a simple deck of cards
Can bring together hearts.Ah-TOO! Here's to me and you,
To the friends we've known forever,
And the ones we're finding new.
Ah-TOO! Let the good times stay,
There's a little bit of magic
In the hands we play today.
We may win, we may lose,
That's the game, and that's the news,
But the finest thing that luck can do
Is bring me here with you.I remember Sunday evenings,
When the house was full of cheer,
All the voices in the kitchen,
All the people we held dear.
Now the years have changed the faces,
And some roads have led us far,
But a table full of laughter
Brings us right back where we are.Ah-TOO! Here's to me and you,
To the stories still unfolding,
And the dreams we're holding to.
Ah-TOO! Let the music play,
For the best things in a lifetime
Are the moments that we stay.
We may win, we may lose,
We've got nothing left to prove,
And the finest thing that luck can do
Is bring me here with you.You know, it's funny...
We spend our lives chasing fortunes,
Searching for a lucky star,
Then one evening, over coffee,
We discover where they are.
Not in diamonds, not in riches,
Not in all the things we own,
But in hearing someone laughing
And knowing we're not alone.Ah-TOO! Here's to me and you,
To a hundred little moments
That can make a life feel new.
Ah-TOO! May the years be kind,
May there always be a table
And a friend we hope to find.
Let the cards fall where they may,
We'll have stories left to say,
And if life should deal us one more day,
Let's spend it just this way.So pull your chair a little closer,
Let the evening never end...
One more hand,
One more smile,
One more hand, my friend.
Ah-TOO...Atout, Atout !
The lyrics
ATOUT, ATOUT, allez, rappliquez,
... Bon, maintenant, qui sait jouer ? »
Allez, ATOUT !
The lyrics
Ohé ! Ohé ! Ohé !
ATOUT ! ATOUT !
ATOUT !
ATOUT ! ATOUT ! ATOUT !Allez, allez, ATOUT !
Tous ensemble, jusqu'au bout !
Ohé ! Ohé ! Ohé !
QUE LE MEILLEUR GAGNE !
See you at the table,
Florence
