Atout!

How to play Coinche

Coinche, also called belote contrée, is the most tactical form of belote: before playing, each team says how many points it expects to score, and the other team can "coinche" it. It's played by four, in two teams of two with partners facing each other, with a 32-card deck.

The deal

Each player gets 8 cards. The player to the dealer's left speaks first, and the deal moves one seat each hand.

Bidding

Coinche and surcoinche

If an opponent thinks the contract will fail, they can coinche: the points are doubled. The bidding team can answer with a surcoinche: the points are multiplied by four.

Belote and rebelote

The player holding the trump King and Queen says "belote" when playing the first of them, then "rebelote" with the second: 20 points for their team. In Atout!, a BELOTE button appears on the card at the right moment.
